Thank You Rotary Members

In Te Ngahere we have been making thank you cards for the Rotary Members to thank them for fixing our bridge. The wood on our bridge was rotten, ugly and unsafe. We all enjoy watching the eels swim past but we couldn’t because of the rotten wood. The process of making the cards was to first create a design to go on the front. We got to paint our design with water colors. After we did that we had to do some handwriting practise to make sure our handwriting was tidy. Then, we wrote a message to the Rotary Members to say thank you. We chose a piece of colored card and glued our picture and message onto our card. I think I did well with my design. If I did this again I would do a different simple design.

Have you ever made a thank you card ?

Fun Friday

Last week In Te Ngahere we did a Paper Cup Challenge, before we did the paper cup challenge we had to get into groups of 2 or 3. We could only use a piece of A4 paper, some scissors and a glue stick. The last cup to leak wins. I learnt that If you make your paper cup thicker it won’t leak as fast this happens because when you have a thick paper cup the paper will try to absorb the water, and after it has absorbed all the water it will start to leak and if you’re lucky it will take at least 5 minutes. I also learnt that If you pour the water on the side of the cup it will fall quicker because of the pressure from the water. The problem with our cup was that it wasn’t stable. When we did the experiment ours sood up for 1 seconds. Next time I will make sure our paper cup is thicker and stable. The winners were Azure, Heavenly and Tiana. It was really hard to make our paper cup stand, I think it was because of our design. We thought our design would work because when we tested the design It held the water for a long time.

Have you ever made a paper cup before?
